Welcome to Trade Show No. 4, Hen's Teeth!

Everything a man really needs to be well and timelessly dressed in all situations must fit into a bag. A pair of jeans, a sweatshirt, a T-shirt, a pair of socks and a scarf. And this bag must be able to be hung on the seat of a motorcycle. Done. Starting with this ingeniously simple idea, Davide Biondi founded his casual, exclusive brand that brings icons of men's clothing to unsurpassable perfection.

Our world is obsessed with growth. Our entire human existence is condemned to unconditional growth, which nothing and no one can stop, and whose willing helpers are capitalism and globalization. They are the cancers that ruthlessly demand more and more until their host is devoured and destroyed. Once let off the leash, they can no longer be caught, because people have the great character deficiency of not only not being able to give back wealth once it has been achieved, but always wanting more of it, especially when someone else already has it. The big management consulting companies of this world have turned this into an ice-cold business model. As soon as you bring them in to analyze your own idea - let's say for a tasteful, sustainable and timeless clothing label, for example - the first thing they ask you with 100% certainty is about the "scalability" of the product. Because it can only be good if it can be multiplied and expanded. Thankfully, when Davide Biondi founded "Hen's Teeth," he didn't listen to management consultants - he listened to his heart instead. He simply combined the three things that have fascinated him since childhood: clothing, graphic design and motorcycling.

Davide grew up in a small town on the Italian Adriatic coast near Pescara in Abruzzo. For as long as he can remember, he has been fascinated by art, fashion, painting and handicrafts. It was his father's old pair of jeans, which he wore while working on the land, that gave Davide his first understanding of the value of robust handcraft and at the same time showed him the beauty of a piece of clothing that shows the traces of the wearer's work and that ages gracefully and acquires a patina with him. While he was still at school at a music conservatory, he began collecting denim fabrics and jeans and studying how they were made. At the same time, he painted like a man possessed and was finally led to his third passion when his parents found a bright red, ancient Moto Guzzi in a barn. He began studying fine art at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna, went to California years later to exhibit his work, and finally returned to Italy and began working for a leading clothing company. One day, as often happens with us men,

is the case - once again overwhelmed by the morning question of what to wear, the starting signal is given for what will one day become "Hen's Teeth"; although Davide is not aware of it at the time. All he wants to do is wear a perfectly cut and finished sweatshirt and a pair of jeans that fit perfectly. So he starts making exactly that himself. He quickly adds a pair of socks, a bandana and a perfect T-shirt, which he decorates with graphics inspired by old army and motorcycle logos - that's all Davide needs to be happy. And he also makes the bag that has to fit everything in himself. Everything is made in timeless designs and fabrics, in classic cuts and with the utmost attention to detail. And suddenly Davide knows exactly that this will be his future and that he will finally be able to combine everything he has always loved. Davide Biondi founds Hen's Teeth, and Hen's Teeth is Davide Biondi.

While “handmade” has long since degenerated into a meaningless marketing slogan for many brands and often means nothing more than that someone sewed a label by hand during the manufacturing process, Hen's Teeth still takes the term handcraft literally: Davide is a handcraft extremist in the positive sense, because every, yes, actually every single step in the production of his beautiful pieces is done unconditionally and uncompromisingly by hand and by his own hands. This automatically means that scalability - to stay in the stupid management consultant's jargon - is not possible from the outset and is not intended. And that is exactly why Davide chose the name “hen's teeth”: This is a colloquial A phrase from the USA around the middle of the 19th century that describes an object that is so rare that it practically does not exist; because hens of course have no teeth, and if they do, then that would be absolutely unique. As unique as the beautiful products from Hen's Teeth are in the truest sense of the word, because no two pieces are the same and none of them are produced in large quantities or even in series production. Vests, work shirts and beanies have now also joined the Hen's Teeth concept, which impress with their classically beautiful design and unusual graphics. And thanks to the active female support of Marianna, there is already a small collection for women. Davide checks every cut, every seam, hammers in every rivet himself, writes the labels, folds and packages every item of clothing and sends it personally to his valued customers. Who still does something like that, who still goes to such an effort these days? And not because they have to - but because they want to!

With casual, timeless understatement, Hen's Teeth proves to us why they don't need management consultants: You can break the dictates of growth terror. You can give a shit about scalability and expansion. Grazie, Davide!
